LEF/PUC-Rio

The Laboratory of Fluid Engineering (LEF), part of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), conducts fundamental and applied research in fluid mechanics and heat and mass transfer. Its main research areas focus on experimental studies of two-phase flows, turbulent flows with surfaces, drag... reduction, cardiovascular flows, and paraffin deposition in oil transport lines. The laboratory employs optical methods for visualization and measurement of flow dynamics, including various Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) techniques and other relevant measurement methods.
