Smith Land & Improvement Corporation is the corporate umbrella under which all activities collectively designated "L.B. Smith" operate. These enterprises of construction equipment and quarry machinery, automobile dealerships, real estate development, and nonprofit foundations reflect the style of both their founder and successive managements. Luthe... r B. Smith ("LB" to those who knew him) endowed his businesses with superior leadership principles that endure today. Prudent management, diligence in customer care, and insistence on strong financial reserves are the constants that are just as valid today as they were three quarters of a century ago. R.E. Jordan II became Chairman and CEO in 1992, succeeding his father, R.E. Jordan, who led the company after LB's passing in 1968.
