Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United, SEIU represents about 8,500 workers in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We represent workers in the private and public sector. Our private sector workers are in the food industry, distribution warehouses, dry-cleaners and industrial laundries. We also represent workers in the... public sector: Newark Board of Education, Municipal Crossing Guards, Housing Authority workers, Bus Attendants, Preschool, Head Start employees, 911 communication officers & clerks and the Blue Collar workers (Sanitation, Water treatment). As well as the Plainfield Crossing Guards, Irvington Housing Authority, and Irvington Crossing Guards. The Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United, SEIU is a labor union that is composed of members that are the pillars (backbone) of our society. We are a diverse union that represents members through a wide range of industries and sectors. Some of the jobs are members perform are to feed our children in public schools, wash the hospital linen, handle the trash, distribute and deliver merchandise. Despite the variety of work our members do we are committed to winning for working families. Our union, members are committed to fighting and winning for members at the negotiation table while negotiating their collective bargaining agreement. Our members understand that to win for working families we must: organize, keep our politicians accountable and fight for all working people. This is why our union is committed to winning the fight 15. We would like all our members to be able to make a minimum wage of $15 an hour in NJ, upstate NY, and CT.
