Langley Burrell

we hope are of general interest to the community. Situated just north of Chippenham, Langley Burrell is steeped in history. It is a small, pretty village notable in particular as one of the termini of Maud Heaths Causeway, an ancient pathway linking nearby Bremhill with Chippenham. For many years the Georgian parsonage was the home of Reverend Robe... rt Kilvert, father of the famous diarist Francis Kilvert, who from 1863 to 1864 and 1872 to 1876 was curate to his father here. The Church of St Peters proudly stands to the North West of the village and enjoys a thriving congregation of both old and young alike. In the centre of the village stands the Langley Tap, a cosy and friendly village pub formerly known as The Brewery Arms but always known to locals simply as The Tap. This nickname stemmed from the fact that for many years the pub stood adjacent to Slades brewery and so the beer was said to be on tap. Our newly renovated village hall provides a great local amenity and is available for hire for parties, functions and meetings of all variations all year round.
