In 1982 the eldest son, Frankie, took over the family business and decided to reposition it as a general contracting firm. In 1990, Les Excavations Lafontaine Inc. moved to the industrial park in Sainte-Claire, a location that would give them greater visibility and help their retention of personnel. In the intervening years, the company has either... expanded or added buildings seven times and acquired several gravel banks and quarries. In 2000, the company added snow removal to its services. In 2003, it opened an estimate/management office in Lévis to better service the Capitale-Nationale market and to attract and retain technical personnel. In 2006, the administrative functions were consolidated in Sainte-Claire while the estimate/management activities were grouped in another office in Lévis, thus facilitating internal communications. The mechanic shop remained in Sainte-Claire. In 2009, LAFONTAINE again (and finally) relocated to an industrial part in Lévis - to its current address at 872 Archimde -- where it is easily accessible by Highway 20 (exit Chemin des Iles). At this location, the company built a vast warehouse for construction site services and a maintenance shop boasting the latest in technology. The facilities in Bellechasse, Ste-Claire, serve the local market. In 2011, still at the same address, the company erected new offices for the administrative and estimate/management teams. With 40 offices, two conference rooms, a kitchen and lounge, the new building proved to be a hospitable place where employees mingle and work in a pleasant atmosphere, conducive to efficiency and teamwork. In 2015, the company branched out into new activities, such as the rehabilitation of sewer systems with ultraviolet-cured liners and the realization of major engineering works.
