Lactec is one of the largest sciences and technology centers in the country, a reference in innovative solutions for the second sector - such as companies, industries and energy concessionaires. It has five units in the city of Curitiba (PR) and one in Salvador (BA), where it offers technological services, laboratory tests and analysis, research, development and innovation (RD&I) projects, consulting and technical training - with short term courses and professional master's degrees. Its history begins in 1959, with the creation of the Professor Parigot de Souza Hydraulic and Hydrology Center. From this Center is born the recognized competence in projects for large hydroelectric works. An activity that was added later on to the tradition of the Central Laboratory of Research and Development, in 1982, and the Laboratory of Materials and Structures, in 1994. The fusion of all these units at the end of the 1990s, and the creation of the Laboratory of Mechanics and Vehicular Emissions in 2000, gave origin to Lactec, a private, non-profit, self-sustaining organization.Read More
