LaBatte Simmentals

LaBatte Simmentals is a fourth generation family farm, on my Mother's side, since 1912. My parents were Herb and Peggy LaBatte. Brenda and I operate a mixed grain and livestock operation. Currently, we own and lease 7,000 acres for grain crops and 4,000 acres for pasture/hay land. There has always been livestock on the farm. I bought my first Simme... ntal, a half-blood heifer, at the first Canadian Western Agribition Sale in 1971, starting LaBatte Simmentals. We've since continued purchasing and breeding cattle we think will advance our program. Brenda and I were married in 1975 and have two children. Our son Lynlee and his wife Hayley, have three boys, Brodyn, Jory and Zayne. Lynlee and Hayley operate the farm with us, with emphasis on the grain farming side. Our daughter, Janalee, and her husband, Tim (DeBruyne), operate their own farm at Ceylon. They have three girls, Emry, Jenna and Sierra.
