This site is intended to provide a set of useable resources targetted at particular learning outcomes for elementary Science, Social Studies and Mathematics in BC. There are a vast number of resources available on the Internet for education, ranging from large meta sites and directories... to specialized scientific sites. The problem is that it takes alot of time to extract useable classroom or study resources from the huge supply, and it is easy to get bogged down in never ending link lists. What is needed is clearly categorized, reviewed and filtered resources that a teacher or student can just go to and use. Kto7.com exists to address this need. We will be developing our link directory around the BC Ministry of Education curriculum and will provide five to ten quality links per learning outcome, as well as links to larger meta sites with good quality information. The entire database will also be fully searchable. In each topic we will include links to resources that are suitable for all ability levls, ranging from basic overviews to resources that will serve to encourage gifted students to explore a subject they find particularly interesting. Teachers can thus direct students to suitable subsets of resources depending on ability and upon how much time is planned for the topic. Generally we will not include links to lesson plans (except in the case of highly relevant or exceptionalplans) since we feel that our role is to support teachers in their lesson planning rather than to provide external plans. The directories will be of use to teachers, students, parents and to home schooled students and their parents. We are presently developing this directory, aiming at having, at least, Science and Social Science areas available by September 2002.
