Kingston, Jamaica: The Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) has agreed to discontinue the reference of the KSAFA leagues as CLARO sponsored, but instead will refer to them as the KSAFA Champions League, KSAFA Super League, KSAFA Major league, KSAFA Under 20, KSAFA Under 17, KSAFAUnder 15 and KSAFA Under 13 Leagues, until a new spons... or is announced. This agreement was reached following the changes in the telecommunication sector that saw the acquisition of Claro Jamaica. In 2008, the KSAFA signed a four year sponsorship deal, with Claro Jamaica, as part of the Association's development programme. The deal was set to expire in July 2012, however based on the acquisition of the company, both organizations agreed to use the 'separation clause' of the contract, so that KSAFA was given adequate time to rename its competitions and seek new sponsors. KSAFA President, Rudolph Speid expressed thanks to Claro Jamaica for its sponsorship over the last three and a half years and salutes them for the bold step they took to partner with the Association in 2008. He also said that "we are satisfied that the partnership between both entities helped in developing and improving both brands immensely." Speid added that the discontinuation of the partnership will in no way hinder the continued development of football in the Kingston and St. Andrew confederation, as the profile of the game increased tremendously over the past three years of the partnership with Claro. He further stated that "we are confident that the KSAFA will attract new sponsors, as we aim to fulfil our commitment of empowering our clubs, while enhancing the game of football in Jamaica."
