Welcome to Porthole View - a web site that chronicles the Ecklund's experience with Mercy Ships ! We are volunteers serving at Trinity Dental Clinic in Liberia. TDC is a project of Mercy Ships and SIM and is located at the ELWA Hospital Compound outside of Monrovia. Mercy Ships is a Non-Profit, Christian Organization that uses ocean-going vessels t... o bring help to poor and needy people in developing nations. Using the the ships owned by Mercy Ships, we are able to bring life changing surgeries, valuable medical and dental care, health training and community development projects to people who would otherwise have no access to these services. These efforts, along with our evangelism and discipleship teams work together to bring a better quality of life, both physically and spiritually. Kreig is working as an Advisor to the ELWA Executive Director and Dental Clinic Administrator. He is responsible for advising on issues regarding Information Technology, Accounting and General Administration. Currently ELWA is in the midst of a financial organization and consolidation. Karen keeps busy homeschooling the kids and responding to the many requests we get for medical assistance from our Liberian friends. She makes sure that Kreig, Kaitlyn (8), Kaleb (5) and Keyara (2) are clean, fed and relatively healthy.Read More
