KPUM was established in 1979. This predates a lot of the Malaysian student organisations that currently exist. Therefore the likelihood of dropping out may be rather low. The Union, as mentioned, was set up for the interest of law students and their very specific career and personal development into the Malaysian legal fraternity. We do not claim t... o understand the motivation of our founders, but to empower law students and enhance career prospects/opportunities in the Malaysian legal fraternity has always been at the forefront of our objectives as a law student union. Therefore, the claim that the Union was established for CVs may not be entirely inaccurate. We do want to help law students succeed. That being said, our current Executive Committee does comprise of many law students who have previously been involved in other Malaysian student organisations and would now like to focus on contributing on the development of law students and the furthering of the rule of law. We would agree with the claim if you would consider that as "dropping out". 4) KPUM is so exclusive and London-centric. This would perhaps be the most common public perception that the Union has had in the previous years. We accept this perception. This is one of the reasons the current Executive Committee decided to come in and launch the #KPUM3R campaign to renew, rebuild and rebrand the Union to once again be relevant and beneficial to ALL law students. Under this initiative, we have now established quite a few ad-hoc committees and sub- committees to accommodate more law students to get involved. We have also increased the amount of student events both in Malaysia and in UK by a dramatic amount (follow us on Facebook for constant updates). Through extending our jurisdiction to law students pursuing a UK law degree in Malaysia, we also wish to extend our reach to bridge the employability skills between local law students and their counterparts by allowing them to be a part of any of our programmes or committees.
