We currently have a vacancy for a Town Councillor. Please see the vacancies page for more information about this important voluntary role and how you can join the town council. The Town Council is closely following government advice with regard to the current situation with Covid 19. Please note government and nhs advice regarding social distancing... and self isolation and look out for your neighbours. Further information on health and well being is also available from the Wish website, The Local Authorities (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority Meetings) (England) regulations 2020 enabled Town and Parish Councils in England to hold remote meetings if they so wish. Kington Town Council has successfully used the video conferencing system provided by Zoom since May 2020 with members of the public able to access the meeting and take part in the usual way throughout the pandemic. Those regulations ceased on 7th May and the Council must return to face to face meetings for formal town council and committee meetings. We are consicous that members of the public attending indoor meetings in the immediate future may be deemed to be doing so in contravention of the government regulations on indoor gatherings so we are reviewing the need for meetings and will only hold full council or committee meetings when there is a clear business reason for doing so. Subject to government confirmation, we are hopeful that meetings can return to 'normal' in the summer.
