Khalid Usman

Khalid Usman has devoted a lifetime to the cause of human dignity, peace, harmony, inter-faith understanding, and social justice, and he has inspired others into action to support worthwhile causes. He is an outstanding individual, an outstanding citizen, and an outstanding Canadian. Khalid Usman was born in Peshawar, Pakistan. He came to Ontario in 1970 and joined a C.A. firm to start his studies as a Chartered Accountant. In 1975, he successfully became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and has been in practice since then. Recently he was awarded the most prestigious award in his profession. The Institute's Council recently elected 75 new Fellows. Fellowship is the highest designation that the Institute confers, in recognition of outstanding career achievements and leadership contributions to the community and the profession. FCA elections are held triennially, and any Institute member may submit a nomination, which culminates in a secret ballot vote by the Council. Rigorous criteria make the FCA designation a special honour. To receive this senior designation, a Chartered Accountant is required to have brought distinction to our profession through significant accomplishments in a number of professionally and socially important ways. Less than 2.8 per cent of Ontario's over 33,000 Chartered Accountants have been elected to Fellowship, making this an exceptional honour. A business leader, pioneer and philanthropist, Khalid Usman gives generously of his time and financial resources to support many charitable causes within Canada as well as internationally.
