OOCL Kaohsiung Container Terminal (KAOCT) is located in the central area of Kaohsiung Port. With almost immediate access to the freeway transportation network linking the major cities of Taiwan, KAOCT enjoys the best location of any container terminal in Kaohsiung. As a pioneer container terminal operator, KAOCT was established in November 1969, us... ing the No. 1 wharf in the old port area as its base. In November 1970, the terminal moved its base to wharf no.40. Two years later in 1972, when the construction work of KHB's second container centre was complete, KAOCT leased Container Berth #66 from Kaohsiung Harbor Bureau (KHB). KAOCT expanded its operations, taking advantage of the rapidly-growing container throughput of the port. The company extended its terminal base to the adjacent berth #65 and later berth #67 in January 1976 and July 1978 respectively. KAOCT has extensive experience of handling awkward cargo in Kaohsiung Port.
