Kalamazoo Packaging started in 1970, as Kalamazoo Engineering, which produced high quality aftermarket snowmobile racing components and was considered one of the leaders in the industry. In 1978, Kalamazoo proto-typed the company's present hand wrapper and began developing the company's interest in the stretch film applicator business. Throughout the 1980's the company produced a number of pallet wrappers which were converted to wrap and package windows. By 1990, it was generally acceptable to wrap window in plastic film for shipment. Since a window wrapper had to accomplish a much different task than a pallet wrapper, the company developed the Model 939. Since then, the company has produced hundreds of these systems with many different sizes and styles available. The 939 Series Jumbo, remains as one of the most reliable machines on the market today. It is capable of wrapping windows and sliding doors up to 120" tall and 144" wide. In 1992, Kalamazoo designed and built the company's first wringer type window wrapper, the Model 800 Series. This model comes in various sizes and can be configured in any number of ways to fit the needs of the company's customers. One of the company's recent developments is the 800 series standalone automatic (an 880SAA is featured on the company's home page). This unit is a fully automatic wrapper remotely operated by the lift driver, and the company is certain of this to become the industry standard.
