Just Music

Just Music was founded in 2001 by former China Records (Morcheeba, Art of Noise, Levellers) MD John Benedict and his partner, Serena. It is a fiercely independent music label in partnership with its Artists offering the very best in cutting-edge electronica, acoustic, ambient, down-tempo laid back grooves and chill. Our ethos is making great music... with integrity. We are passionate about our artists and the exceptional quality of the music we release and we choose to only work with artists in whose artistic and musical ability and moral integrity we believe in one hundred percent. As a result we have a wonderful and inspiring team of musicians around us. Some of the artists we work with are classically trained and are able to draw on that understanding and early discipline to add new depths to their music, others draw on their background in the electronica and dance community and others still from their all encompassing roots level musical lifestyle. We release each artist's work on CD album in beautiful and innovative packaging made from recycled material and paper from sustainable managed forests. Each sleeve features an original artwork created either by the artists themselves or specifically commissioned for the album in perfect synchronicity with the music itself. Autumn 2004 saw the first of the sell out Absolute Zero label club nights at London clubs where we present nights of cool electronica, electro-folk and all round beautiful sounds from Just Music artists along with guest DJ's and VJ's. The fundamental belief that music and the talent that creates it - like art and literature - are one of the great miracles of life and that all music of artistic merit should be afforded an equal opportunity to enrich our lives. In the real world of the music business, music that is supported by the independent labels struggles to make it's voice heard as we do not have the enormous marketing resources available to the major labels with their resulting ever increasing presence both at radio and at retail.
