Just Food is the food bank of Douglas County, supplying 29+ partner agencies with fresh produce, dairy products, meat, bread and pantry staples. Tuesday through Friday, Just Food operates a food pantry out of our main building serving 150-300 families daily. We are a team dedicated to our guiding principles and listening to our clients and communit... y to serve the larger needs of our neighbors facing hunger. Provide access to nutritious food, while respecting the dignity of every human being. Address root causes of hunger and cultivate self-sufficiency. Collaborate with community partners to affect positive and sustainable change. Ensure a culture of stewardship grounded in transparency and sustainability, and informed by the needs of our community. Support people through the lens of equity and diversity. In the fall of 2009 Just Food opened its doors and served clients in the basement of the United Way building in partnership with ECKAN. The board of directors is the governing body of a nonprofit. Individuals who sit on the board are responsible for overseeing the organizations activities. Board members meet monthly to discuss and vote on the affairs of the organization. Board members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. Board members are encouraged to participate in sub committees that play to the strength and talents of each board member.
