About Joy 99.3 FM
For 31 years, JQ99 has been West Michigans source for Contemporary Christian music. It started with a vision to provide a more Contemporary Christian music station with little to no teaching programs. It was also decided at that time that JQ99 would be a local for-profit commercial supported station. We wanted to be funded by the local businesses, not our listeners, for operating expenses allowing listeners to support non-profit organizations. We have never tallied it up, but a conservative estimate would say that JQ99 listeners have given more than 3 million dollars to nonprofits over that time through on-air fundraising campaigns. Thank you for being a giving community! Since 1987, the station has always been referred to as WJQ or JQ99. From time to time we have been asked what WJQ or JQ stood for. The truthful answernothing. They needed to pick call letters and at that time they thought WJQ sounded the best. The staff at Joy99.3 wants everyone to know exactly what we are here for. WRead more
