Jonathan Holland

Founded in 2006 by Jonathan Holland, HMI has spent the last 13 years as the go to luthier and builder for musicians in the greater Atlanta area. After many years of tinkering with his own guitars and basses, and armed with every book and internet article he could find, Jonathan set out to learn lutherie in earnest. What started as a hobby slowly tu... rned into a full time pursuit and eventually Jonathan retired from his 25 year career in medicine to pursue music and lutherie full time. Since then he has played with and done work for musicians such as Steve Stone of Atlanta Rhythm Section, Dick Smith of Earth Wind and Fire, Little G Weevil, Barry Richmond, Danny Vincent, and Tinsley Ellis. At any given night of music in Atlanta you are more likely than not to see an instrument that has passed across his bench. In 2018 it became clear that it was time to expand. With stores such as Atlanta Vintage Guitars, Cherokee Music Center, a lengthy list of individual clients, and prototypes piling up, Jonathan expanded the shop and partnered with local luthier Sam Crenshaw.Read More
