On 3/17/21, after a day and a half jury trial, Andrew McQuinn was found guilty of: Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, felony level Domestic Battery, Theft of a Firearm and Possession of a Handgun without a license. McQuinn shot at police following a domestic incident that took place throughout the day. Upon arrest... , McQuinn made several statements that were caught on bodycam such as, "we shoot at po-lice" "that's what we do". For all our law enforcement officers here in Johnson County, there may be other jurisdictions where your efforts and sacrifices go unsupported or unappreciated; not here and at least not on my watch. For anyone who is foolish enough to do something to try and take the life of one of ours let McQuinns case serve as a cautionary tale. My office will vigorously prosecute cases of individuals who try to take the lives of our local law enforcement officers, and if we secure a conviction will work to ensure they spend decades in prison because thats what we do. The JCPO had its first jury trial on 3/9/21 since the Indiana Supreme Court ended its prohibition of jury trials on 3/1/21 because of COVID, or at least part of a jury trial. Dalbag Sing was arrested and subsequently charged with misdemeanor level drunk driving after being seen swerving into the oncoming lane of travel last January. We presented testimony and body cam from GPD Officer Brandon Cox who investigated the case. Officer Cox was done being questioned by the prosecutors, and was in the middle of being cross-examined by Singhs defense counsel when the court concluded business for the day. The remainder of any cross-exam was to resume the following morning. Before the trial resumed that next morning, Singhs defense counsel approached the prosecutors and informed them he wanted to change his plea to guilty. The jury was temporarily excused from the courtroom when Singh then admitted both drunk driving charges against him. The case was then concluded.
