Originally set up in 1987 as a Destination Management company (DMC), a subsidiary of Jetair Private Limited, India's oldest and most extensive General Sales Agency organization; Jetair Tours quickly spread its presence to several cities in India. Since inception, the Inbound divisi... on managed tourists from USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore and Australia, opening up the wonders of India to the world. Tourists from new markets like Spain and Turkey followed. In 1996, to meet market demand from business partners, and to develop and promote Airline and Cruise products, an Outbound division was set up in Mumbai. The division soon developed into a niche player focused mainly on marketing holiday products of some of the world's most renowned airlines for which Jetair was the General Sales Agent; such as Air France, Air Seychelles, Austrian Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Gulf Air, Kenya Airways, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan among others. Regional sales offices were opened up in New Delhi, Madras and Bangalore. The initial product line focused on brochure programs, groups and packages. In 1999 Gulliver Travels (GTA) was inducted as a product and in 2003 Star Cruises appointed Jetair Tours as their General Sales Agency. As an outbound specialist, the Far East and the Middle East, principally Dubai and Abu Dhabi have remained the division's most favored destinations. Over the years both divisions outgrew their reach and stature, gathering recognition, encomiums and awards along the way. As a DMC, the Inbound division was awarded several National Tourism Awards by the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India, in 1992, 1994 & 2002 for positions attained in various categories for turnovers based on inward remittance.
