JEG Development Corporation was founded by its namesake Jose E. Garcia in February 1994. For the first nine years of its existence, it functioned primarily as a holdings company for his business interests. In August 2003, the company changed from being a purely legal entity to a staffed and operating corporation. The first project took place in the... Fulton Street, Lahug property in 2004. Blue Garden, a mixed-use building, was constructed consisting of 3 commercial spaces, 3 townhouses, 10 studios, and a bachelor unit. Blue Garden was sold on to a private buyer in 2011. The second project was the development of an empty lot at the corner of Acacia Street and Archbishop Reyes Avenue, a stone's throw away from Ayala Center Cebu, into a commercial space in 2005, designed by Architect Ed Gallego. One Acacia Place has since been fully occupied and the success prompted JDC to develop yet another fully commercial space as its next project. Perhaps the best known of JDC's property development is The Gallery on John Paul II Avenue, formerly Juan Luna Avenue. Since its construction from 2007-2008, it has become a landmark for Cebu's diners as well as offering other services and institutions. This was the first real estate project done in partnership with Mai-I Resources Corporation, as well as the first project designed by Architect Rene Ybañez. JDC's newest venture in the residential market is a unique one. Designed once again by Architect Rene Ybañez, JDC Tomodachi Inc. developed 14 townhouses in Talamaban using Japanese standards and design as its theme.
