Jane Dough Baked Goods

I grew up in a family that spent lots of time in the kitchen, cooking meals together, planning parties and trying new recipes. My father worked in the food industry. He started his career working for Red Star Yeast and Chef Boyardee back in the 50s and later became a food broker. Growing up we rarely went out to eat. Instead, we always sat down tog... ether as a family for meals. We ate good, wholesome food that we made while enjoying our time together, talking around the table. One of my first jobs was at a little restaurant called Memory and Company in Charlottesville, VA. There I learned the true beauty of making simple, unpretentious food. Some people think that the more complex and difficult a recipe is the better it will taste. But thats simply not true. What is important is to make everything from scratch - the sauces, the salad dressings and stocks, the pasta and bread and of course the desserts, always with the freshest ingredients. And these lessons have stuck with me to this day. After moving to Annapolis I decided to go to culinary school to become a pastry chef. When I graduated I opened up a small bakery. After my first son was born I knew I couldnt keep up with the crazy hours it took to run the bakery and still spend time with my family, so I went to work baking for a gourmet shop and catering company. After ten years there it was time to leave to try something new. But my love for baking and entrepreneurship didnt go away. I knew I wanted to find a way to continue baking and build on my passion for wholesome, delicious foods. And thus, Jane Dough Baked Goods was born! Through the years I have worked on developing recipes and techniques so that everyone even those who have never baked before can easily bake at home.
