Since the original operation which started in the 60's; we have grown to include 3 hot mix asphalt plants, a sand and gravel operation, a contractor supply outlet, a ready-mix concrete operation and a precast operation. In 1960 Roger Olson, Gail Gustafson and Durand Peterson founded Asphalt Services, Inc. - an asphalt sealing company, to maintain the roads of Chautauqua County, NY. As the company evolved, Roger found that there were additional opportunities to sell asphalt to construction companies in the process of building roads. Jamestown Macadam, Inc. asphalt plant was purchased in 1973 to process mined aggregate into asphalt suitable for building roads, parking lots and driveways. Corbett Hill, a mining company that specialized in aggregate for asphalt production was established in 1973. In 2000 Hybanks Gravel products was purchased by the company to gain access to 118 acres of land, including mineral rights. This land was located on an Indian reservation. This site was closed in 2010 and operations were resumed at Corbett Hill facility. The principles of JMI acquired the assets of LER Concrete, Inc. in October 2003 which included a ready-mix facility in Falconer NY and a ready-mix and precast facility in Kane, PA. In 2011 the Kane plant was sold and the precast operations were moved to the Falconer ready-mix facility. JMI has a long history of involvement in Western NY and Northwestern PA. JMI products have been used in the completion of the Southern Tier Expressway (RT 86), the NY State Thruway, the construction of the new overlook tourist spot for the Kinzua Bridge in PA and various other projects.
