Jack Russell Rescue is a non-profit, community-based organisation controlled and operated by volunteers. JR Rescue was established by co-founders, Jill Clinch and Sandra Ferris, to save and re-home abandoned Jack Russell Terriers and JRT cross-breeds that find themselves on death row in pounds throughout Australia. Whilst the majority of dogs arriv... e at the JR Rescue shelter from death row, a few unwanted dogs are privately surrendered to us for re-homing due to a change in circumstances, such as a marriage break up or death. If we have the capacity, we will always endeavour to accept a JRT in need. On average, we will have 35-40 dogs in care, and re-home more than 200 dogs per year. The number of dogs re-homed is increasing every year, and this year we are expecting to get closer to 250 dogs into our Rescue. The dogs that we offer for adoption may not all be pure JRTs, but at JR Rescue, we believe they are worthy of saving. Each dog is de-sexed, vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, wormed, temperament assessed,and vet-checked prior to re-homing.
