Iwa

Founded almost 30 years ago, Iwa works in partnership with Christians and churches to discover and develop the needed resources that will lead to more effective evangelism, leadership development, church growth, church planting, and spiritual renewal among Japanese, Japanese Americans and Asian Americans. These resources include materials, programs... , strategies, and training. Iwa is the Japanese word for "rock. Used in Bible passages in which the Lord is called our Rock, "iwa" can be envisioned as a huge, immovable boulder that is shaped by the natural elements surrounding it yet its essential nature forever stays the same. Because it is used to refer to the Lord, "Iwa" has also had "The Living Rock" as the English equivalent attached to it. While Iwa's work has focused on transforming ministry to people of Japanese and Asian ancestry in the U.S., Iwa's vision has always been for transforming ministry to people of every ethnic group in the world. The systematic approach Iwa has taken to develop culturally appropriate and biblically sound ministry practices is something that people of other ethnic groups can use as a model for developing more effective ministries for their own groups.
