ivy rose design studio is a label born out of the love of beautiful fabric and design. Crafted on the fabulous Fraser Coast, by designer and maker Sue Flewell-Smith who completed an Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design and Technology at the Sunshine Coast Institute of Tafe in 2012 each garment is created with the goal of being an individual, unique p... iece for the discerning woman, a statement piece with an ethereal style that will not date. An investment to keep and cherish for many years, designed to create an entrance wherever and whenever they are worn. Heavily influenced by the glorious year round weather of Queensland in the use of cool linen and cottons. The resort collections, give the ivy rose design studio woman an edge in the style stakes with an underpinning of comfort. These collections are only crafted in limited numbers to preserve that individual, unique experience, equally at home at the races, summer weddings or that tropical getaway. Couture formal, cocktail and wedding gowns are individually designed and created using gorgeous laces, satins and silks. Each design celebrating what it is to be a woman. Each piece celebrating a unique life! I chose the name ivy rose design studio because Ivy was my grandmothers name. She was a beautiful lady who always encouraged me. We had a special bond when I was young, I would tell my mother that Nan was coming to visit us, and much to her surprise, my grandmother would arrive unexpectedly. Rosie was a very special dog, You know that uneasy, cant explain feeling you sometimes get .one day as my daughter and a friend set off for a short bike ride in the drizzle, Rosie did something she had never done before. As the girls wheeled their bikes out of the gate towards the wet road we lived on, she dashed past them and into the path of a 4WD. I still feel to this day that if that had not happened to her it would have been one or both of the girls.
