Ivanhoe Pictures was formed in late 2013 as a motion picture and television financing and production entity. The company's principal offices are in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and New York, with affiliate branches in Singapore and London. Ivanhoe develops, produces, and acquires content for a global audience. With a specific focus on Asia and North Ame... rica, the company works to bridge production opportunities in both markets. In 2015, Ivanhoe partnered with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, the Los Angeles based production-finance company to create SK Global, a joint venture to produce and finance film and TV projects globally. Backed and co-founded by Sidney Kimmel (Jones New York) and Robert Friedland (Ivanhoe Mines), the venture is overseen by John Penotti, seasoned President and producer who has led companies such as GreeneStreet Films, Ivanhoe Pictures and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE). Ivanhoe established a four-year multi-picture co-financing pact with Fox International Pictures (FIP) to produce local language films in India, South Korea, China, Japan and Taiwan. Several films have been produced under this partnership, including the South Korean thriller The Wailing by helmer Hong-jin Na (The Chaser, The Yellow Sea) that opened as the number one film in Korea last month and has become Fox's all-time second-highest grossing film in Korea. Ivanhoe has partnered with Blumhouse Productions and Phantom Films in India to produce local-language genre films. The first of these, Ghoul, begins filming in Mumbai next week. In South Korea, Ivanhoe Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have partnered with the distributor Showbox to make six Korean genre movies over the next five years. In addition, Ivanhoe Pictures is producing a slate of original content.
