Our goal at Island Cottage is to provide a solution to the many challenges presented by remote or water-access-only locations -- particularly Maine's coastal islands. However, we have found that our customers have a surprisingly diverse range of sites. While many are located on islands, others inhabit the mainland, or are on rivers, lakes, or ponds deep in the Maine woods. Some even reside in accessible subdivisions! Our cottages are superbly suited for all of these locations. The quality construction, aesthetic appeal, and unique fabrication process of our Island Cottages make them a practical, energy-efficient, low-maintenance building solution for second homes, retirement homes, or year-round primary residences wherever your site may be. Though the size of our Island Cottage is standard -- 24' x 33' -- providing 1300 to 1500 sq. ft. of living space. We can also increase the length of your Cottage. Far beyond standard is the variety of interior floor plans available to customize your cottage. Specifying the quantity and location of windows and doors in any exterior framed openings enables you to take advantage of your site's unique views. At Island Cottage, we work with you to personalize a floor plan that meets your family's individual requirements for the number of rooms, their locations, and their functions.
