Iron Rooster

A unique team needs a unique name to go with it. To understand the origin of IronRooster, you must look back over 400 years when the Ottoman empire stretched into the lands of the Hungarians. After the Ottomans seized the city of Gyr, their leader Szinn pasha taunted the Hungarians by claiming their city would remain under Ottoman control until the... day the wrought iron rooster weather vane that crowns the citys bastions crows and the polished bronze half-moon at its feet waxes full. Four years later, in 1598, the Hungarians used Szinns hubris against him as they positioned their forces to retake the city. On the day of the assault, just before dawn a cobbler named Ferkó Bajusz stealthily scaled the city bastion to reach the weather vane. Ferkó quietly waited until the sun began to peak over the horizon in the east and then blew his horn to mimic the sound of a crowing rooster. As the sound echoed across the city, the rising sun engulfed the shiny half-moon at the iron roosters feet making it appear full. Suddenly, fearing their pashas prophecy had come true, a panic ensued among the Ottoman ranks that led to the explosion of their gun powder stores. The Ottoman occupiers fate was sealed. With the Ottoman forces in disarray and their gunpowder gone, the city was easily retaken by the Hungarians. Since that day, the Iron Rooster has come to symbolize bravery, ingenuity and triumph against all odds.
