Iris Gregg

Iris Gregg is an artist currently living and working in the midwest region of the United States. She graduated at the top of her class with an honors degree in Fine Art (Painting) from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Using a canvas relatable in size to the human figure, her work is imbued with a painterly, ethereal quality. Flattened figu... res, sometimes simplified to shadows or more detailed portrayals, weave through colorful layers littered with words and symbols. Delicate drippy muted washes balance and gently hide the tension and chaotic underpainting. Her work mimics traditional portraiture by depicting an examination of individuals physical state, moments and life experience. However, through altering or abstracting the physical identifiers or individualism, the work becomes a contemporary visceral play on every humans experience and not a singularly identifiable person.
