Invergordon

Invergordon has the widest High Street in the Highlands and is one of the widest in Scotland, making it a unique shopping experience with wide pavements, which are shopper-friendly. The retail section of the High Street has traffic calming to enable easier crossing of the road. The High Street is adorned with planters and in the summer the wall pla... nters are spectacular and well worth a visit. They are grown and prepared by the day-care clients at the Isobel Rhind Centre, for the learning disabled. For over a decade volunteers in the town have worked with the Centre to produce amazing floral displays, that are watered 3 times a week by locals. This makes a fine welcome to all the cruise passengers that disembark from the magnificent cruise ships in the Cromarty Firth, which berth in Invergordon. The shops are wide and varied and as an example you will find a launderette, supermarkets, cafes, bank, £1 shops, charity shops, crafts, papershops, beauty salons, nail bar, hairdressers, vets, arts centre, insurance, gift shop, solicitor, petrol station, post office, garage, hardware, gardening, industrial store and many others. At Christmas the High Street is decorated with modern lighting displays which are well worth a look. These are always put up by the local fire brigade and volunteers, who have helped fund raise to pay for the new look Christmas motifs.
