After nearly a decade of lobbying and research, Invegrow is finally producing Malawian-made hemp products! Industrial Hemp is the non-psychoactive, non-narcotic form of Cannabis Sativa that is currently grown in over 40 countries around the world. Is has been harnessed for thousands of years by cultures across the globe for food, fabric, medicine a... nd so much more. Invegrow Limited, founded in 2013, was the first company in Malawi to be granted authorisation by the government to conduct research trials on industrial hemp. With a commitment to education of the crop where none previously existed, we worked closely with our government counterparts and research partners and forested a relationship of trust and transparency. Our ultimate objectives are to see industrial hemp adopted as a viable new cash crop in Malawi, and to see Malawians benefiting from its products from both a health and economic level. We're proud to say in February 2020, we achieved our first objective when the Malawi Government released its Cannabis Act, legalising the cultivation and processing of low THC industrial hemp. In the year that followed, the government pulled together and educated a Cannabis Regulatory Association who will oversee licensing, inspections and infringements. And in March 2021, the government issued 35 organisations - companies and cooperatives - their first licenses.
