About Instrutech

Instrutech Corporation was founded in 1984 by Milan Kesler and Cary Ringel. Milan Kesler brought many years of previous experience in scientific instrument sales and development. Cary Ringel was experienced in the design and development of microprocessor based electronic systems. Our first product was introduced in 1985. This was the QS-1, Quantipore Stochastic Channel Simulator. This product was produced in cooperation with Dr. Fred Sigworth of Yale University. Shortly after the introduction of the QS-1 we introduced the SDA-1. This was an adapter for Sony PCM tape recorders that recorded frame numbers and serial data onto the tape along with the analog information. This was our first product involving digital data storage. The introduction of the Instrutech VR-10 in 1987 was a major breakthrough in mass data storage. This selectable one or two channel VCR based Digital Data Recorder was capable of one DC to 37 kHz analog channel or two DC to 18 kHz analog channels and data to a compuRead more

This selectable one or two channel VCR based Digital Data Recorder was capable of one DC to 37 kHz analog channel or two DC to 18 kHz analog channels and data to a computer. The VR-AT ISA bus computer interface made this transfer possible. The VR-100, introduced later, expanded this technology to 8 channels. These early data recording systems were improved upon the following year, resulting in the introduction of the VR-10A and VR-100A digital data recorders, along with the VR-111 computer interface. The VR-111 ISA computer interface was an improvement of the VR-AT interface. Among the improvements in the interface was the ability to transfer data from the video tape to the computer hard disk in one pass. This improvement also made possible the transfer of the data in real time from the VR-10 or VR-100 to the computer. This enabled the data recorder and interface combination to be used as a simple one or two channel data acquisition system. The VR-10A and VR-100A remained in our product line until the introduction of the VR-10B in 1992. This product, compatible with the earlier VR-10A, used DSP technology to handle calibration. The VR-10B offered improved analog performance and the addition of ...Read More
