Having been a major account representative for eight years, Steve decided to enter the insurance industry in 1982 as a licensed agent for The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. By 1987, Steve realized that he could not do the best job possible for his clients by working as a "company agent", that is, offering insurance products... from only one carrier. This "awakening" resulted in Steve's independent agency representing any quality carrier that could fill the need of clients. In the late 1990's when the internet was starting to blossom as a means of transacting business, Steve's thoughts were "I bet that I could do that. He began by hiring a web developer and going online in October, 2000, with BenefitHouse.com. Benefit House Insurance Services has grown to be a top source for no exam life insurance. As the internet continued to grow, inquiries began to come in from employer groups and associations. As life happens, a new path related to group business became apparent. In order to simplify compliance issues, it was decided that a separate company be founded to handle non-licensed types of business. Thus, began Innovation Group. In December, 2011, Innovation Group partnered with Hughes & Associates to work as Hughes' marketing arm. By combining Innovation Group's already developing contacts within the middle to larger corporate markets with Hughes' over twenty years of success in negotiating high value hospital claims for Group Health claims and for Workers' Compensation claims, a dynamic relationship has evolved. Our mission entails the successful negotiation of additional reductions after claims have been reduced by PPO schedules and, in the case of Workers' Compensation claims, reduced by state mandated fee schedules. We work as a final step on behalf of Third Party Administrators (TPA) and Reinsurers. In addition, Employers, the Plan Sponsors, approach us directly through referrals.
