About Information Tribunal

The Information Tribunal (previously called Data Protection Tribunal) was originally set up to hear appeals under the Data Protection Act 1984. It continued to hear appeals after the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) came into effect, but was renamed the Information Tribunal when it was allocated responsiblility for hearing other information appeals under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR). The Chairman of the Tribunal is John Angel and there are nine Deputy Chairman, they are: Andrew Bartlett QC, Anisa Dhanji, David Farrer QC, Fiona Henderson, Humphrey Forrest, David Marks, Peter Marquand, Annabel Pilling and Christopher Ryan They are all solicitors or barristers of at least seven years standing.
