A minuscule catering business which was started for private parties and friends was the genesis of Infinity Hotels Pvt Ltd. In October 2001, on the rooftop of his family hotel called Gulf Hotel at Colaba, Farhan started Mumbai's First rooftop restaurant overlooking the Arabian Sea in the name of Koyla meaning charcoal in Hindi. Within months koyla had already become a roaring success in the city of Mumbai with footfalls reaching almost 500-600 every night.
