Indigent Defense Commission

Mr. Bales worked in the Public Defender's offices in both Franklin and Newport News, Virginia. On several occasions during his service with the Public Defender, Mr. Bales was called upon by the Indigent Defense Commission to assist in coaching new attorneys and help them to hone their courtroom skills at the "Trial Skills Boot Camp" held by the Ind... igent Defense Commission. After leaving the Indigent Defense Commission in 2008, Mr. Bales devoted much of his time to the defense of DUI/DWI. Mr. Bales co-authored Virginia DUI Law: Understanding the Scientific, Medical, Technological and Legal Aspects of a DUI Case, a treatise published in the Virginia Practice series.
