We believe that, in ideal circumstances, every child should be healthy, live at home, and be surrounded by a loving family. However, some HIV-infected children are chronically ill and are too sick to be at home, or they have care needs that are too complex to be provided adequately in a home setting. For children who need the services of Incarnatio... n Children's Center, we acknowledge that we are not an adequate replacement for a child's home or family. However, we pledge the following: To provide a nurturing, home-like setting that provides first-rate care, filled with love and compassion, designed to give each child a longer and better life. To be ever-mindful of the effects, on child and family alike, that admission to ICC may cause and to do all we can to ensure a positive experience. To make every effort to improve each child's health to allow the earliest possible discharge back to a home setting. Care Model: We see a child's placement at ICC as a multifaceted treatment opportunity. The child has generally been referred for medical treatment, yet there are invariably a host of educational, psychological and social difficulties that require attention as well. Each discipline within the ICC therapeutic community has specific treatment goals, but we work together to provide an individualized and integrated therapeutic experience for each child.
