About Imo State University
Professor Peter Achunike Akah obtained a doctorate degree (PhD Pharmacology) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1984. He joined the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as a Faculty member in October 1984 and was promoted to the rank of Professor of Pharmacology in October 1995 at a very young age of 38 years. He was many times the Head of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, and the former Associate Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Dean Student Affairs UNN. He has been a permanent member of the Senate of UNN since 1992, and a member of many faculty and university committees. He was an adjunct professor and Head Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, College of Medicine, Imo State University (2006-2014).
