Digital image capture is the latest state-of-the-art method of digitizing artwork for computer imaging. IMAGE TRANSFORM has developed the first-of-its kind large format 14 bit per pixel digitizing camera. This device captures the finest quality digital image possible without the need for an intermediate transparency or negative. Unlike the traditional process, where a large format intermediate transparency is made from the original prior to scanning, ITL captures the original directly to the computer. A 150 megabyte image can be produced directly from an original of any size in less than 2 minutes. The flawless file which has been created has the actual fidelity and color of the original. This means that a perfect color match is attainable without the excessive system time that results in cost overruns. The file created can be printed on any of the many ITL output devices, or sent to a lithographer for conventional printing.
