Through IDEAS, health care professionals and administrators from across disciplines and sectors learn, apply and share quality improvement knowledge and tools that draw on the latest evidence and reflect new ways of thinking. To ensure impact and results, IDEAS focuses on practical learning supported by mentoring and coaching. Participants apply th... eir knowledge to projects within their own organizations and local health systems that are aligned with the health system priorities identified in Ontario's Action Plan. By bringing together individuals and improvement projects from across disciplines, sectors and regions, IDEAS creates a rich and stimulating environment that supports creative problem-solving and new approaches. The result: redesigned and improved care delivery that delivers better patient outcomes. IDEAS is also building a shared culture of continuous improvement to create the conditions necessary for real change. The Introductory and Advanced Learning Programs provide common QI language, methods and tools, so that health care professionals can collaborate across disciplines and sectors to break down silos and improve quality throughout the health system. And IDEAS is customized to Ontario's system and needs. The initiative builds on the internationally respected quality improvement program developed by Intermountain Healthcare in the US to create a uniquely Ontario approach.
