ICAMP pioneered the concept of Virtual Functional Gaging (Soft Gaging) in the late 1980's and we were the first dimensional analysis software company to support random inspection of free-form surfaces (first for bi-cubic surfaces and then for B-Spline surfaces) making it possible to rapidly measure complex shapes (such as airfoils and car body shapes) on inexpensive manual measuring devices.
