Hyperion Racing Team

Hyperion Racing is a team comprising of engineering students from Pillai Institute of Information Technology, India with the objective of competing in Formula Student racing events, both nationally and at a global stage. We like to think of our team as a democratic culmination of 30 different thought processes and mind sets into one efficient unit.... Here's a little insight into what we are all about. Hyperion, in Greek Mythology was the Titan of light, and one of the four pillars that held the universe, responsible for organizing the cycles of the Sun and Moon. When the idea of forming a Formula Student Racing team was presented to us by a former participant, the prospect of being able to build a working race car right from scratch, applying what we have learnt and adding to that knowledge seemed sumptuous. The idea spread like wildfire within us automobile enthusiasts and we gathered to bring it to life. The book Billy, Alfred and General Motors by William Pelfrey shows how two individuals with entirely contrasting skill sets and ideologies joined hands to create General Motors. Billy was a zealous salesman who had a fondness for the high life. Alfred was the brains behind the organization with immaculate technical and managerial knowledge. They managed to create a legacy that would, for many years, be synonymous to the American automobile industry. Like William "Billy" Durant and Alfred Sloan our team consists of members who come from different walks of life bent on achieving a common goal. Each of us has a different skill set and we work together towards competence. Being new entrants into this format, we decided that the first few attempts should be concentrated on gaining a foothold in the format and establish a reputation for future teams to look up to and better.
