About Hurricane Harvey

And decisions have to be made.... Cmon Weather Channel....Isaias will brush the US East Coast over the weekend, but this is totally fear mongering!! With everything else going on in this country and the world, this storm seems to be getting limited attention. Local meteorologists dont seem to be overly concerned and there doesnt appear to be a run on anything. Many of us are still sheltering or working at home. Others may just be numb to 2020. I suppose well know more tomorrow once Isaias moves over the mountainous island of Hispaniola. Hello Humberto ...... and goodbye! Never a real threat to the west coast of Florida. Glad to see this one also turn away from Florida and the US mainland (following Dorian 2 weeks ago). Well keep an eye on the 2 disturbances in the Atlantic as well as the coast of Africa as we work through the peak of the season! We stay on guard and hope for more turning to protect the east coast of the US and the Bahamas! As we've monitored its progress over the pastRead more

Well keep an eye on the 2 disturbances in the Atlantic as well as the coast of Africa as we work through the peak of the season! We stay on guard and hope for more turning to protect the east coast of the US and the Bahamas! As we've monitored its progress over the past few days we've become concerned, however, I always feel better when we are in the center of the cone five or more days out. As the storms tend to move (not always) as they get closer and observing over the past 15 years, it seems like when we are NOT in the cone of uncertainty farther out, we end up in it closer to landfall. While we are still in the cone, it's looks like the predicted storm path could turn north once over the peninsula. Not good for our state in general, but being in the Tampa Bay area, we feel for the other side of the state but also stay focused on our locale. The news media here in Florida (as well as around the Southeast) has been reminding us that the disastrous 2017 hurricane season began its run as Hurricane Harvey was forming a year ago. We're fortunate that this year it would seem that things are much more calm: Of course, this past week marked the 14th anniversary of Hurricane Charley hitting Florida (August 14th, 2004) that started it all for this blog. Actually, it was email updates to family & ...Read More
