Huntley Community School District 158 is a rapidly expanding public education system serving approximately 8,900 students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 across northern Illinois, including the communities of Huntley, western portions of Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, and surrounding areas in McHenry and Kane counties. Built between 1997 and 2005, all district facilities were designed with technology integration as a foundational priority, positioning Huntley 158 as a recognized leader in K-12 educational innovation at both state and national levels. The district has achieved particular distinction for maintaining this innovative approach while sustaining among the lowest per-pupil spending rates in Northern Illinois, demonstrating operational efficiency alongside educational excellence. A defining strength of the district is its Blended Learning program, launched at Huntley High School in 2011 with an initial cohort of approximately 100 students and subsequently expanded to engage more than half of the school's 3,000-plus student body.
