A full range of services is available in our local community churches. Faith. Kindness. Community. Respect. These are the cornerstones behind Hororata Parish. Our first wooden church built in 1875 established on the ideals of giving everyone a chance to gather as a community, learn, grow, and define their own religious identity through sharing. Tod... ay our community reflects the diverse use of the land and those who look after it. Some are 6th generation descendants of the earlier settlers and others are recent arrivals involved in local farming activities, or commuting to work in Christchurch or neighbouring towns. The role of a vicar in a small community is immensely important. Jenni has been ministering to the spiritual well-being of our parish for the last 10 years. Along with being our Fire Chief, much of her time is spent in service to local families. Our vicar is also part of the team of volunteers that host Hororata Highland Games, Night Glow and the local family favourite, the Hororata Parish Spring Fair.
