I started Hoffman-Barnes Risk Management Consulting Company to address the challenges that small to mid-sized companies and not-for-profits face when it comes to risks that can threaten the bottom line and, for not-for-profits, ultimately prevent them from carrying out their mission. Building a comprehensive plan or evaluating your current plan may sound expensive or seem tertiary in importance. Risk management means more than having the appropriate insurance in place or an attorney on call. Risk management planning is a thoughtful and comprehensive analysis of your enterprise. It is understanding that all risks cannot be avoided but most risks can be managed and having a risk management plan allows your entity to competently identify and address those risks that can prevent you from achieving your goals. I have over 20 years of experience helping entities manage risk (enterprise, legal, operational, etc.). I began my career as a corporate attorney representing private and public companies. I transitioned to the business side of the table and spearheaded enterprise risk management analyses resulting in the development of comprehensive risk management assessments and complementary mitigation strategies.
