About Hoca

The Haematology and Oncology Clinics of Australia (HOCA) has grown from humble beginnings with the desire of three doctors to establish a facility that provided patients with quality and progressive treatment for cancer and diseases of the blood. Fifty-thousand patients later the pioneering efforts of doctors Trevor Olsen, Ian Bunce and Paul Eliadis in 1988 to establish one of Brisbane's leading haematology and oncology centres have been more than realised with four cancer care centres now located in South-East Queensland. In opening the first HOCA centre on the Wesley Hospital campus they aimed to create quality care for patients diagnosed with cancer and diseases of the blood with the least possible disruption to their lifestyles through excellence in treatment, education, research, support and value creation. In 2008, HOCA treated its 50,000th patient at HOCA @ Mater - which was opened in 1997 - and the network of cancer care centres continues to grow along with the reputation of HOCA as a leader in cancer care and research. HOCA Chermside was officially opened in September 2008 by Federal Treasurer, The Hon. Wayne Swan MP, ushering in a new era of cancer care in Queensland.
