Hillsboro is home to over 92,000 people. It has been my home for over 41 years, and my husband's home for his entire life. We raised our children here and have volunteered in our community for more than 30 years. I had not originally intended to apply for the position of executive director with the Hillsboro Downtown Association, but my daughter re... minded me of something I instilled in my children as they were growing up, and that is to always leave a place better than you found it. I want to leave Downtown Hillsboro better than I found it. When I arrived in 1970, the streets were crowded with smiling shoppers, storefronts were filled, the economy was robust, and there was a warm, nostalgic feeling of community. I want to be part of the revitalization of Downtown Hillsboro. Many of the wheels are already in motion and the momentum is building. Together, we can make our downtown community stronger, healthier and more vibrant." Lorraine brings 30 years of experience in marketing, development and event planning, as well as 30 years of volunteer development to her position as executive director of the Hillsboro Downtown Association. She has owned a retail store; established and operated a major annual craft bazaar ("Every Husband's Nightmare") for 12 years; and worked in a professional capacity for PacifiCare Health Insurance, Tuality Healthcare, and Project Access NOW.
